What is it used for?

The Profile List panel allows the platform administrator to create and define the access profiles within the system, on the basis of which user accounts are generated and distributed. The creation and management of profiles is one of the settings required for the functioning of the platform. N.B. The display order of the profiles in the "Active" status defined within the Profile List chart is the same that is shown to users who access the Portal Page of the system. In case you want to change the display order, you can click the row of a specific profile and drag it to the new desired position in the list.

Columns of the Profile List chart

The columns of the profile list chart describe the parameters related to the user profiles already set by the administrator.

The described parameters are:
  • ID: indicates the order in which the freely viewable profiles have been entered. It must be noted that the automatic sorting assigns a higher ID value to the most recently added profile: this means that the rows, in their default view, are ordered from oldest to newest entry.
  • Name: displays the name that the administrator assigned to the profile at the time of creation.
  • Duration: indicates the default duration assigned to the profile.
  • Time Calculation: shows the type of timing set for the profile. It is divided into Single Session, Periodic, Accumulation timing.
  • Price: describes the price assigned to all the accounts generated based on the profile.
  • Distribution: shows descriptive icons of the account distribution type associated with the profile.
  • Status: indicates the activation status of the profile at the time of consultation. It must be noted that this parameter affects the presence or absence of the profile among the authentication options that the user has when accessing the system. By clicking on the switch, you can change the activation status, activating or deactivating the profile. You cannot activate more than a profile of the social or self-service type simultaneously. For these two types, the creation or activation of a second profile of the same type causes the automatic deactivation of any other active profiles that provide the same distribution mode.
  • Tools: contains the buttons the administrator needs to operate on a specific profile. The available actions are three: consultation of complete information on the profile, modification of settings related to a profile and their deletion.

Tools

The tools of the profile List chart allow the administrator to check information about a specific profile, edit or delete it permanently from the platform. Specifically:
  • Information: the information button leads to the profile Detail screen, where you can view all the parameters related to the chosen profile.
    • Name: displays the name that the administrator assigned to the profile at the time of creation.
    • Duration: indicates the default duration assigned to the profile.
    • Distribution Method: shows the type of account distribution associated with the profile.

    • Periodicity: indicates whether the timing is periodic or not.
    • Price: indicates the price assigned to all the accounts generated based on the profile.
    • Status: indicates the activation status of the profile.
    • Account Activation Limit: displays the time limit from the creation date of an account associated with the profile, within which the user must activate the account itself, before it is automatically put on "expired" status.
    • Account Expiration: indicates the time frame within which the account will be used. After this time, the account, even if it is still active, will be put on "expired" status.
    • MAC address Lock: indicates whether the profile is configured with the active MAC Address Blocking option.
    • Idle timeout: indicates the value of the user's idle time the system waits for the user to be considered as disconnected.
    • Uplink Bandwidth limit: shows, expressed in Kb per second, the bandwidth limit the user has to upload data, as set by the administrator.

    • Limit Duration: for social and self-service type profiles, shows the lifetime limitation of the account creation possibly associated with the profile.
    • Description: displays the descriptive text of the profile that the administrator has specified at the time of creation and that is printed on the voucher used for the manual distribution of credentials.
  • Edit: the edit button allows the administrator to make some changes in the parameters of the selected profile. Specifically, you can change
    • The profile Name.
    • The price (in case of a profile defined as "at fee").
    • The Options for requesting and collecting user data.

To change the other features, you must delete the profile and create a new one with the desired configurations. By clicking on "Edit Profile", the new settings will be saved.
  • Delete: The delete button allows the administrator to delete a selected profile. Upon clicking, a confirmation message will appear asking for permission to proceed with the deletion. By clicking "Confirm", the profile is permanently deleted.

N.B. Deleting a profile does not alter any existing accounts created on the basis of the profile you just deleted. They continue to work with the original settings, provided by the profile that the administrator had used for their creation.
